Who we are

Upcoming eventsFrom conferences to hikes to work parties to application deadlines, you'll find all sorts of environmental events here! |
Have your voice heardThere are many ways to speak out and advocate for environmental protection, and one such way is by submitting public comments on proposed rule changes. This document will guide you through this process and provides an easy way to have your voice heard on all sorts of issues. |
YESCInterlake's Green Team is supported by the YMCA Earth Service Corps (YESC), which helps connect many Seattle-area high schools with environmental programs, education, and opportunities. |
This school year, Interlake Green Team has:
- Organized weekend hikes for students to connect with nature
- Sold reusable water bottles as an alternative to single-use plastic bottles (and as a fundraiser for our other projects)
- Connected students to dozens of environmental events - see our calendar
- Worked toward installing electric hand dryers in Interlake restrooms to reduce paper towel waste
- Given students tools and guidance for contacting their state legislators about environmental legislation - see our guide on contacting your legislators
- Organized two teams of five Interlake students to participate in the Envirothon, an environmental science and natural resources competition
- Built a school garden
- Organized a Green Week to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Earth Day
- Run a successful (and ongoing) marker recycling program at Interlake
- Much more!
Ecosia campaignOur Internet searches can drive reforestation efforts around the world. We're encouraging students to use Ecosia to do exactly that, with the eventual hopes of having BSD make Ecosia the default search engine on all district computers. |
